THE LONG STORY

Howdy everyone! My name is Justin Vasquez and I am the founder of Jade Productions.

Although our story technically started in 2019, the journey that led us here began several years before that...

There are many things that have inspired me throughout the years, but my biggest inspiration would have to be my late older sister Jade. Without her, this company would not exist today. Jade lived life to the fullest. She was a smart, fun, outgoing person who brought a smile to everyone she met. Her favorite saying, which sticks with me to this day, was “YOLO” or “you only live once.” Although at the time I thought this saying was sort of cringey, it has stuck with me more than anything else. To me, it means to live everyday like it is your last, to not be afraid to just jump and try the new thing that you never saw yourself doing. Because you are never going to look back and regret trying something new.

This is what set me on my journey into filmmaking. I finished high school early and decided to move to Los Angeles at 17 to study acting in film school at the New York Film Academy. Soon, my passion for film would grow beyond stagecraft and lead me into production. I saved up what money I could and invested in my first cinema camera. After that, I started shooting everything and anything I could. If I was there, so was my camera. I spent my free time studying filmmaking and every time I was working on set as an actor I was asking as many questions as I could to the crew. I would work on small films, music videos, commercials, anything that would give me the opportunity to do what I loved.

I decided a few years after college that I wanted to move away from Los Angeles, back home to Texas. I chose to move to the city of Austin, the place I now call home. After moving to Austin, I started working at the largest camera store in Texas and working on filmmaking projects in my spare time. Even if I couldn’t create everyday for myself, at least I was surrounded by other creatives, sources of inspiration, and local innovation. I continued to learn and work on my craft for years after moving back home. And I was able to make connections and meet some amazing people.

A few years later, once I’d felt I’d perfected my craft, I took my late sister’s advice again and thought to myself, “YOLO.” I decided to bet on myself and go all in. I quit my job and worked on growing my company, Jade Productions, full time.

In just a few short years we have had opportunities to work for companies like Logitech, Astro Gaming, Oni Studios, & Metal Umbrella, just to name a few. I developed a deep understanding and appreciation for the art of production, and I along with my team at Jade Productions, believe that a story well-told can transcend the boundaries between company and client.

Cheers to great storytelling, cheers to Jade. YOLO.

Why us?

Studying acting in college gave me the necessary tools to be able to find talent and give them valuable feedback that they could understand. Finding the right talent and helping them get to the best performance possible is necessary to help your project stand out.

The network I have built over the last several years has given me access to cutting edge creators in Austin and surrounding areas. This means I am able to hire and contract for other positions outside of my own skill set. What this means for you is that you now have unlimited possibilities on whatever you are wanting to create regardless of the size of the project.
